Flockton is a village which has been, since 1974, in the Metropolitan District of Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, England, halfway between Huddersfield and Wakefield. Flockton was within a coal mining area, the local pits are now closed and it is now a commuter village. It has a population of 1,410 (2006 estimate). From 1894 until 1938 Flockton was an urban district in the West Riding of Yorkshire. In 1938 the district was abolished and the area was merged into Kirkburton Urban District. [edit] Research Tips
