Elgin is a town in Kershaw County, South Carolina, United States. It is located approximately 20 miles to the northeast of Columbia's center, the state's capital, and is one of the nine townships that make up Kershaw County. The town itself held a population of 1,311 people in the 2010 census with the surrounding countryside bringing the total population up to 2,607. It is part of the Columbia, South Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area.
