Dunmore County was a county in Virginia formed in 1772 and named for the colonial lieutenant governor, John Murray, 4th Earl of Dunmore. Woodstock, Virginia was the county seat.

Lord Dunmore was Virginia's last royal governor, and was forced from office during the American Revolution. In 1778, the county was renamed Shenandoah County, Virginia.
