Dorchester Hundred is on the north side of the River Thames in eastern Oxfordshire and covers the parishes from Culham to Overy. There is a projection to the northeast including three further parishes and, in addition, it has two detached parts of one parish each. The introductory chapter on the Hundred in The Victoria History of the County of Oxfordshire includes a map.
A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Dorchester Hundred from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
- "The hundred contains seven parishes and part of another. Acres: 12,434. Population: 3,529. Houses: 767."
