The Crum Elbow Precinct was a county division 1737–1762. The area covered the present towns of Clinton, Pleasant Valley, Stanford, Washington, Amenia, most of Hyde Park, and part of the town of North East. The name "Crum Elbow" is from the Dutch for crooked elbow, a name given to a jog in the Hudson River that is at the western edge of the Precinct.
