A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Creeting St. Olave from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"CREETING-ST. OLAVE, a parish in Bosmere [registration] district, Suffolk; on an affluent of the river Gipping, 2¼ miles NNE of Needham-Market. Post town: Needham-Market. Real property: £626. Population: 41. Houses: 7. An alien priory, a cell to Gresteen abbey, stood here at Gratings, and was given to Eton college. See Creeting-All Saints."

Creeting St Mary, Suffolk is 0.7 miles (1.2 km) SSW of Creeting St Olave. This is measured directly between the two points 'as the crow flies' ignoring any geographical features such as rivers or hills. (Source: GENUKI) It is assumed that Creeting St. Olave was absorbed into Creeting St. Mary in 1884. (See Creeting All Saints for an explanation.)
