  • "COWANSVILLE, a thriving post village in Missisquoi co., Que., on the south branch of the Yamaska river, and on the South Eastern branch of C.P.R., 49 miles southeast of Montreal. It contains 12 stores, 2 hotels, 3 churches, 1 printing office, telegraph and express offices, a branch bank, 1 furniture factory and flouring mill. It is in the midst of a rich agricultural country adapted to stock raising and to the production of cheese and butter, of which large quantities are made. Pop. 639."
