Cole County is a county located in Central Missouri in the United States to the south of the Missouri River. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the population was 75,990. Its county seat is Jefferson City. The county was organized November 16, 1820 and named after pioneer Captain Stephen Cole, who came from Virginia in 1807 and died in 1822.
Cole County is the central hub of the Jefferson City Metropolitan Statistical Area.
