Claxton is a village and now part of the Claxton & Sand Hutton civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is near the A64 road and 8 miles (13 km) north-east of York.

Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Claxton was part of Flaxton Rural District. Historically, it was located in the ecclesiastical parish of Bossall in the Bulmer Wapentake.
