Chester is a town in Warren County, New York, United States. It is part of the Glens Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 3,614 at the 2000 census. The town is made up by communities of Chestertown and Pottersville.

Settlement began around 1794. The Town of Chester was formed from part of the Town of Thurman in 1799.
