Castle Donington Rural District is located in the northwest area of Leicestershire, England. It existed from 1894 until 1974, but some alterations were made to the parishes within the district in 1936. In 1974 the district was merged into the North West Leicestershire District under the Local Government Act 1972.

  • Hemington and Lockington joined to become a single Lockington Hemington parish; but the village of Hemington is west of Lockington.
  • Isley cum Langley included the parishes of Isley-Walton and Langley Priory and also a portion of Castle Donington.
  • The urban district of Whitwick was abolished and split between the urban district of Coalville and the parish of Charley which was thus expanded to the north. Compare with the map on the Ashby de la Zouch Rural District page for the earlier arrangement.
