Belmont County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is part of the Wheeling, West Virginia Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 70,400, which is an increase of 0.2% from 70,226 in 2000. Its county seat is St. Clairsville. The county takes its name from the French for "beautiful mountain".
