Beaufort Circuit Court District was one of seven circuit court districts created. Beaufort Circuit Court District was created in 1769. In 1785 Granville County, South Carolina, Hilton County, South Carolina, Lincoln County, South Carolina and Shrewsbury County, South Carolina exited in this location. These counties became abolished counties in 1800. Then Beaufort Circuit Court District continued in 1800. In 1868 Beaufort County, South Carolina was created. Then Jasper County, South Carolina in 1912.
