The Village of Bayville, often referred to as Pine Island, is a village located on Long Island Sound facing Greenwich, Connecticut, and within the town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, New York, United States. Bayville forms the northern shoreline of Oyster Bay Harbor. The population was 6,669 at the 2010 census. The village was incorporated in 1919, through the efforts of Winslow Pierce Esq., one of America's most celebrated railroad securities specialists, during the incorporated village movement which allowed many larger estate owners on Long Island to establish political and security control over their domains. From 1926 until his death at Bayville in 1953, Bayville was the home of the Wall Street tycoon, Harrison Charles Williams, who became known as the wealthiest American, and whose wife Mona was elected "Best Dressed Woman in the World" several times. The entwined history of Williams and the village is memorialized in the village museum. The village is best known today as a summer playground because of its active marine culture & beautiful beaches. [edit] Research Tips
