Ashton was historically a hamlet in the parish of Ufford, Northamptonshire. Whilst still part of Ufford it appears to have been treated as a civil parish for some purposes - notably the 1851 census. It formally became a civil parish in 1866, but did not last long, being abolished and absorbed into the neighbouring parish of Bainton (also anciently part of Ufford parish) in 1887.
