Anerley is now an area of southeast Greater London, within the London Borough of Bromley. It is located west of Bromley and is 7.0 miles (11 km) south south-east of Charing Cross (a point considered to be the centre of London from which distances are measured).

The district is the former site of The Crystal Palace after it was moved from the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park in 1854 until it burned down in 1936. Other local neighbourhoods such as Sydenham and Penge are also considered to have been the location of Crystal Palace.
