Amite County is a county located in the state of Mississippi. As of the 2010 census, the population was 12,131. It is named after the Amite River which is located in the county. The name is derived from the French amitié, meaning "friendship." Its county seat is Liberty.

Amite County is part of the McComb, Mississippi, Micropolitan Statistical Area.
