Town of Alexandria

Alexandria historically was a small town in the township of Alexandria, county of Leavenworth, state of Kansas, United States of America. The town was laid out in 1854 at a crossing of the Big Stranger creek by J.L. McAleer, Samuel D. Pitcher, and Col. J.M. Alexander (after whom it was named). The incorporators of the town company in 1855 were Alexander, Pitcher, W.H. Russee, Alexander Majors, and others. Alexandria was short-lived, and most of it was moved to Springdale a few years after.
