Ada is a city in Norman County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,707 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Norman County. Minnesota State Highways 9 and 200 are two of the main arterial routes in the city. The town was named for the eldest daughter of William H. Fisher, who at the time was attorney and superintendent of the St. Paul and Pacific railroad. The name of another town, Forada in Douglas County, came about because there was already an Ada, Minnesota. Sadly, Ada Fisher died at 6 years old. The idea of naming the town after her was to perpetuate her name and memory. [edit] Research Tips
