Person talk:William Gray (110)

Jim I also tried to add the 1880 Census to this page and it doesn't work so something is wrong. I think we need to let someone know and see if they find something wrong. Pam

Hello Pam and Jim,

What happened here is that you had opening <center> and <gallery> tags, but not the ending ones which look like this: </center> and </gallery>. The page was still looking for the rest of the gallery, instead of adding the source data. I added the ending gallery tag </gallery> and for simplicity purposes, removed the center tag. If you want to keep the image centered, you will need to add the tags like this:

<center>
<gallery>
Image:image title
</gallery>
</center>

Notice the order of begin center, begin gallery, end gallery , end center. --Jennifer (JBS66) 14:35, 27 May 2010 (EDT)

ok, thanks. Pam Thanks Jennifer! Jim

Do you have a death certificate for W R Gray? Was wondering about his birth and death place. The places in red signify they need to be corrected. I don't know if you want to leave them in red, or if we can show the most likely place in blue, with a note that it's not proved and could be the other? What do you think? Pam

I do not have a cert. of Death. Death info from two different aunts. Have unclear photo of his homemade tombstone which I took in 1992. The red seems to indicate a mismatch with conventions which are NOT looking for words like "near". I will change it and leave out the "near" and see what happens. If needed I can probably get a Google map showing the cemetery, I don't know. Thanks, Jim

I think this will work with Spearsville, Union, Louisiana, United States as the place and Camp Creek Cemetery in the Description box

Thanks, Pam

Oops, I made the fix before seeing this. Let me know if I need to change it. Pam, do you know about the " Cemetery Portal page." Jennifer is saying below? That could be a great help for I have gobs of relatives buried there. Jim

Pam, I just found the official address for Camp Creek Cem. and found the Place Portal that Jennifer mentioned. With a whole lot of luck I will make a Place page for it. I made a Place Page for it, I think. Check URL: http://www.werelate.org/fte/index.php?userName=Jayharris&treeName=Gray-Price-Adcock-Williams. Any thoughts? But how do I link it to a Person's Page Jennifer? Jim

Nice job on creating the cemetery page. You'd link to it just like any other place on a Person page. It may take some time for it to show up in the list of places, but you can add it to a person page by putting Camp Creek Cemetery, Spearsville, Union, Louisiana, United States in the place field. --Jennifer (JBS66) 21:27, 27 May 2010 (EDT)

Jennifer, thanks for the help and encouragement. Jim

I'm glad I could help. You and Pam are doing a great job with your pages! --Jennifer (JBS66) 06:32, 28 May 2010 (EDT)

WeRelate does also allow place pages for cemeteries. You can find additional details on our Cemetery Portal page. Category:Cemeteries of Louisiana, United States has examples of other cemetery pages for Louisiana. --Jennifer (JBS66) 20:25, 27 May 2010 (EDT)
