Who are his parents? [22 December 2013]

Andrew, how certain are you that his parents were Thomas Tulloch and Mary Tulloch? If they were, it appears that he may have been the same person as Person:Thomas Tulloch (56), who was born Nov 1848, in spite of the ages he gave in the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census records. Thomas Tulloch (56) appears in census records for 1851, 1861 and 1871, and then cannot be traced with certainty after that. Thomas Tulloch (26) appears in census records for 1881 and later, but cannot be reliably identified in earlier census records.

The only Thomas Tullochs of approximately this age, born in North Ronaldshay in the 1861 census (and not already accounted for), were Thomas Tulloch (56), Thomas, son of Mary, born about 1849 and Person: Thomas Tulloch (78), son of William and Mary, born about 1851. Thomas Tulloch (56) and Thomas Tulloch (78) are both in the 1871 census as well, but I cannot reliably identify Thomas, son of Mary in the 1871 census (although I might just be losing track of all the Tulloch's by this point).
