The Identity of Sarah (Gale) Pratt [12 August 2015]

According to The Gale Family Records …, p. 39, the Sarah Gale who married Jonathan Pratt was daughter of John and Elizabeth (Spring) Gale, born 12 December 1681. Abraham and Sarah (Fiske) Gale did have two daughters named Sarah, but I think we can rule both of them out. If I don't hear to the contrary, I'll make the appropriate edits.--jaques1724 19:36, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Obviously I know what Gale said, as I have a refutation of it posted on the page, to which you have supplied no response except to say "I think we can rule both of them out" without explaining how... How do you answer the fact that Abraham's will mentions a daughter Sarah Pratt? --Jrich 00:15, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Let me be explicit about some of the subtler points: Jonathan and Sarah Pratt named their second son Abraham, after naming their first son Jonathan, and surveying as many sources as I have, named no children John or Elizabeth. Sarah Pratt is the first daughter named in the will, before Mercy, suggesting she is the oldest, which supports the argument that George Gale messed up in thinking there were two Sarahs, that actually the first Sarah never died. There is no probate for John Gale who moved to Framingham. There appears to be no marriage record for Jonathan and Sarah Pratt, the estimated marriage date based on the birth of the first child. So how do we even know the wife of Jonathan Pratt had a maiden name of Gale, unless it is based on Abraham's will? Which evidence George Gale corrupted by misreading Jonah's birth as Sarah's birth (or did he simply copy the always questionable Bond?) Thus, he wrongly infers that the first daughter Sarah died, but clings to the idea that it was a Gale that Jonathan Pratt married. Barry's History of Framingham which Gale and Bond cite for this, does not say who Sarah's parents are, but does call her "Sarah Gale, of Wat.", which probably wouldn't apply to John's daughter as he lived in Framingham (not that Barry is all that reliable). Gale/Bond use Barry to justify a conclusion he never made. --Jrich 04:12, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Just noting that Barry does not identify Sarah's parents in the Pratt entry, but does say Sarah is Abraham's daughter in the miscellaneous details under Gale, as he must, again, because there is no evidence she is a Gale, otherwise. --Jrich 13:42, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
