Person talk:Priscilla Pabodie (2)

Marriages [26 January 2012]

I removed the citation of the Alden Family Website because it is blatantly wrong, or massive evidence and sources are needed and it has none. I did verify that the website still says what it was alleged to say:

"18. Priscilla Pabodie (Elizabeth Alden, John) was born on 15 Jan 1653/1654 in Duxbury, Plymouth Co., MA. She died on 3 Jun 1724 in Kingston, Plymouth Co., MA. She was buried in Kingston, Plymouth Co., MA.

Priscilla married (1) Michael Sprague. Michael was born about 1649.

Priscilla married (2) Isaac Averill on 22 Dec 1671. Isaac was born about 1650.

Priscilla married (3) Ichabod Wiswall about Dec 1677 in Duxbury, Plymouth Co., MA. Ichabod was born about 1637 in probably Dorchester, Suffolk Co., MA. He died on 23 Jul 1700. He was buried in South Duxbury, Plymouth Co., MA."

The Duxbury VRs show Prissillah Pabodie marrying Ichabod Wiswall in 1682, a duplicate record saying 1673. Since her maiden name is Pabodie, this is her first marriage. The death record in Kingston identifies her as "w. Rev. Ichabod" Wiswall, so it is her last marriage. The same conclusion is given by "The Wiswall Family of America", NEHGR, p. 40:60, and "The Alden Genealogy", NEHGR, p. 52:55.

The above source does not match the recorded dates for the marriage to Ichabod Wiswall (either of them) and offers no explanation of how she could have two previous marriage and still carry the name Pabodie.

An Isaac Averill married Prescilla Peabody Topsfield in 1761. That the date is 1761, and not 1671, is confirmed by several birth records to Isaac and Priscilla in Topsfield in the 1760's. This is clearly a different person. She was obviously not the widow of any Michael Sprague either, still being named Peabody when she married.

I have no idea where the Michael Sprague comes from. There is a Micah Sprague of Rochester, but his wife was named Elizabeth. --Jrich 00:53, 27 January 2012 (EST)

P.S. The Find A Grave memorial has a fairly in-depth discussion on this also. --Jrich 00:58, 27 January 2012 (EST)
