Person talk:Naomi Niles (3)

Where is birthplace Colchester coming from ? I believe she was born in the "Neck" area of the east side of Lyme or on Block Island.

I've gone ahead and changed the BP to Lyme. Although her parents were married by Bans on Block Island, I think Neomy was born in eastern Lyme where the FENNERs settled.--Neal Gardner 19:26, 17 August 2009 (EDT)

Where is the alternate name "Nancy" coming from ? I have never seen this. Can you quote a document ?

At least one secondary source, Noyes Descendants, p. 158, asserts that the wife of William Comstock was Naomi Noyes, daughter of Rev. Moses of Lyme. However, the Benjamin Niles sketch in Noyes-Gilman, pp. 173-4, includes the following: "… widow Ruth survived him, and entered into an agreement with the other heirs as to the division of the estate, which takes up much space in the town records, and which is interesting to us in one particular, in that only two of the heirs, the sons-in-law, William Comstock and Ebenezer Coleman, wrote their names, the others including the widow, making their mark." That sketch places him on Block Island from about 1670 through at least 1678 and not at Lyme until 1692 indicating that Naomi was born on Block Island.--jaques1724 20:09, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
