Which regiment did he serve in? I'm confused by the notes. -- Amy (Ajcrow) 10:09, 21 July 2011 (EDT)

In the census, he said he served in the 101st NY Inf., of which there is no record of him. In my research, I checked the 110th in case the census recorder transposed his numbers, but the John W. Lewis who served in the 110th died in 1864, and his widow, Jennett Ferris, applied for pension.--Obstinatesnooper 11:49, 24 July 2011 (EDT)
