Person talk:John Doak (1)

Not sure this John Doak was born in 1693, which would have been 9 years before his closest sibling. Other sources say he was born closer to 1712. Also, with his mother Elizabeth being supposedly born in 1681, it would have been an improbability for her to have her first child at age 12. More research may be necessary.

Guilford co. was formed in 1771 from parts of Orange and Rowan Counties so technically he died in Rowan Co. I'm not sure how it should best be handled. The standard here is to use place names as they presently exist which, I'm not sure I agree with. The United States, obviously did not exist then either. I have been watching your activitywith interest for this family, as they have often seemed to me to be quite elusive. I descend from Mary "Polly" Campbell Doak, who married John Billingsley in Warren Co., KY in 1807. How do you fit in? There is a lot to absorb from your edits. I need to study it at length.--Scot 20:58, 16 May 2009 (EDT)
