Person talk:James Morrow (15)

The 1880 census, which is the first census to list birthplace of parents, shows that the parents of Allen Morrow and his sister, Mary Morrow Heath, the only two living children of James and Susanna in 1880, were both born in Virginia. Allen was living in Indian Land, Lancaster, SC while Mary Heath was living in Jackson, Union, NC so it is likely that two different persons took the census. It does not seem likely that both of these children thought their father was born in Virginia if he was born in NC.

That is a good point. I checked where I got NC, and there's no support for it other than the traditionally made connections between this man and David of Waxhaw, NC (who is not related based on the DNA). I'll change the birthplace.--Amelia.Gerlicher 14:14, 8 September 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for the change.

I understand that the DNA shows James Morrow descendants are not descendants of David Morrow who married Agnes White. The info shown on the website shows David Morrow died in Waxhaw, NC, but is this not the David Morrow who is buried at Waxhaw Presbyterian Church cemetery in Lancaster County, SC? The dates for his birth and death are the same as are on the marker for the David at Waxhaw Presbyterian in Lancaster County.

Also, if James who married Susannah Watson was actually born in Virginia, are there any other known lines which could be compared to James' descendants? I am a female descendant of James' son, Allen. - D. Nielsen 9/14/07

It's my understanding that Waxhaw County and Lancaster County are across the border and that most of the Morrows who attended Waxhaw Presby. lived in NC. But feel free to correct me (yes, it's the same David).
There are a number of other lines that have been compared to James' line, but none of them match (see here). Also, if you email me privately (see email address here), I'll send your information to the Allen descendant who sponsored the results on this line.--Amelia.Gerlicher 17:47, 14 September 2007 (EDT)
