Person talk:Harrison Weand (1)

Civil War service [7 November 2011]

I was looking at the pension index card for Harrison Weand of the 93rd Pennsylvania Infantry. It shows that his widow applied for a pension on 30 Nov 1870; it was approved, though the date is not listed. This would seem to indicate that the Harrison Weand you have listed here as dying in 1900 is not the same one. It would seem that either the death date is wrong or he wasn't in the 93rd Pennsylvania. -- Amy (Ajcrow) 09:42, 6 November 2011 (EST)

The pension index shows a debility pension in 1870 and a widow's pension in 1900, which would fit. Not sure why the widow's pension says "Ellen" and the obit and census records say "Jane." I'll have to look into that some more.

Thanks for the information. What's wild is that the index card for him on Fold3 (part of the Organization Index to Civil War pensions), doesn't list his disability pension at all, and has the widow applying in 1870. Thanks for the clarification. -- Amy (Ajcrow) 10:18, 7 November 2011 (EST)
