Person talk:David Wilson (36)

I suspect the wit Andrew WILSON could be my dead end gf who m Sara CHRISTIAN ca 1776 at Tinkling Springs, near Staunton, Augusta Co, VA. What is your interest?

I have Andrew Wilson and Sarah Christian also in my files. Do you have any information on who the parents of Andrew Wilson could be? My flemsy prospects I have for his parents are: A-1: The Andrew who wit the 1786 m of David WILSON, s/o John who m Ellen McCLURE; A-2: The Andrew who is s/o James below; A-3: The Andrew who is in 16 Mar 73 Will of Patrick lists Wm, Moses, Alex & John, Andrew a minor (?), John & Thomas. (Have auth a gal in Staunton to copy will for me)

According to several familysearch.org submissions, this Andrew Wilson is a son of James Wilson and Elizabeth Hutchinson.

This is on my watch list only because: B-1: MARRIAGE: Greenbrier Co, WV Mar by Rev Alderson has 24 Feb 1781 m for Andrew WILSON & Jane HUTCHINSON; and some source says they both d in Giles Co, VA??? B-2: My Andrew and Sara CHRISTIAN WILSON had 2 ch b 1776 & 1778

Now having said all that, I am not ruling out anyone, Also, I suspect that the Andrew/Sally m could be a 2nd m for eith/both based on their ages at m.

I'm assuming you think that Andrew Wilson and this David Wilson could be possible cousins? (David is mentioned as being a son of John Wilson, but it us unclear which John...? Unfortunately, many of the early Wilson's died intestate, so piecing the families together is problematic.... There are also more than one David and Andrew Wilsons.... Exactly.

Here is one Andrew Wilson I have yet to identify (died prior to March 19, 1778):

  • 1778--August 24th, Will of John Ritse (Rilse) recorded. George Rootes (Roates) qualifies attorney. Will of Thomas Wilmot recorded; his son Thomas. Administration of John Cravens granted widow Margaret and brother Robert. Josh Hinkle's will recorded. Wm. Hopkins's will recorded. Jno. Fulton's will recorded. James Wilson, orphan of Andrew Wilson, to be bound to Thomas Fulton to learn trade of cooper; two years old last Christmas. Administration of Wm. Lemarr granted James Blair. Administration of Jno. Cloverfield granted Felix Gilbert. Will of Ro. Belshire proved. Will of Jas. Marshall proved. Relief of Bridget Fowler above.

I believe these orphan boys to be the sons of the accused murderer of his wf Jane in 1778. Although he was acquited of the murder, a yr later he was shot for deserting 3 times. [per Williamsburg newspaper]

  • 1781--August 27th, Adam Nelson's estate granted Cornelius Collins. Philip Conrad's will proved; administration granted his brother Nicholas Conrad. Thomas Hewit appointed Sheriff. Peter Briant qualifies Lieutenant. Rosanna, orphan of Henry Switcher, to be bound. Robert, orphan of Andrew Wilson, to be bound. Christian Kyger qualifies Lieutenant. John Perkey qualifies Lieutenant. Thomas Lewis, Jr., qualifies Ensign. John Robinson recommended and qualifies Second Lieutenant of Captain Reagan's Company. Benj. Smith qualifies Ensign. William Nalle qualifies Lieutenant Colonel. Robert Cravens, Jr., qualifies administrator d. b. n., of father, Robert, Sr.
