"wild idea" [25 November 2012]

Looking at the original "staat van landverhuizesrs in 1867" I see that Anne Nanninga, migrated together with the van Dam's. They were about the same age. Isn't possible that he lived with them? Maybe when you could find the 1870 census of them and he is there too, then I think he's the 1. --henk 03:10, 25 November 2012 (EST)

Great idea! Of course, by just noticing that, you have doubled the circumstantial evidence, since Staal ends up marrying van Dam's wife, who is the sister of Nanninga's wife. --Pkeegstra 07:48, 25 November 2012 (EST)

P.S. Geeske Kwint the wife of Wigher van Dam is one of my people. Her niece married one of the immigrant Kornelis Keegstras, the son of Jakob and Bontje.

It was worth a try. The following people were in the same household:

  • Gerrit van Dam
  • Bouke van Dam (van der Veen)
  • Froukje van Dam
  • Harm van der Veen (widowed?)
  • Jan Jurriens van Dam (widowed?)
  • Harm van Dam (widowed? - Who was his wife?)
  • John van Dam (age 7, is this the son of Wigher and Geeske Kwint?)

But no trace of Anne Nanninga in the 5 pages on either side.

I found Jane van der Veen in the household of Cornelius Vandermeulen, but no Nanningas on the adjoining pages.

1880 census [25 November 2012]

I believe this is Anne and his family in the 1880 census. Looking at the original via Ancestry (of which the handwriting is very light), I think the name says Anna Nannenga, M 33 y/o; Geestje, F, 42; Jacob, M, 6/12 Dec. --Jennifer (JBS66) 12:07, 25 November 2012 (EST)

Jeltje Roghold [25 November 2012]

As per AlleGroningers, Jeltje Roghold was born 10 Jan 1837 in Groningen City. Her sister Gesien was born on 1 May 1838 in the same city.

Geert Haftenkamp was born in the same city 28 Mar 1835. He must be the male 'G' above.

According to the site above, "Haftenkamp, Geert b. Mar. 28, 1834; d. May 2, 1903; a. 68y.", so I agree - it's the same person. --Jennifer (JBS66) 19:46, 25 November 2012 (EST)
