Middle Name? [7 March 2016]

What is the proof that his middle name was Finis? Just curious since, as Bill Willis has noted many times, middle names were not common before 1800. I do know of one Andrew Finis Cowan ... he was a grandson of William Cowan and Jane Walker.

Not disputing the comments that the Andrew Cowan who married Mary Walker is unlikely to be the Andrew Cowan who died in Jefferson Co. in 1798. What are the underlying facts for this conclusion? Just trying to put a number of pieces together.
