    MIGRATION: 1634 on the Griffin (on 18 September 1634, John Winthrop reported "the Griffin and another ship now arriving with about two hundred passengers and one hundred cattle (Mr. Lothrop and Mr. Simmes, two godly ministers coming in the same ship)"[WJ 1:170]).
    CHURCH MEMBERSHIP: on 5 October 1634, "Zacharie Simmes and Sarah his wife" were admitted to Boston church [BChR 18]. On 6 December 1634, "Mr. Zacharias Symms and Sarah his wife" were admitted to Charlestown church [ChChR 8].
    FREEMAN: 6 May 1635 (as "Mr. Sachariah Syms," third in a sequence of three Charlestown men) [MBCR 1:370].
    BIRTH: Canterbury, Kent, 5 April 1599, son of William Symmes [Magnalia 1:459]. Baptized St. George, Canterbury, Kent, 8 April 1599, son of William Symmes [TAG 12:68].
    DEATH: Charlestown 4 February 1670[/1] "aged full 72 years the 6yh of April ensuing" [ChVR 1:77; Hull, 230; NEHGR 7:206, 121:125]. "His epitaph at Charles-town, where he was honorably interred, mentions his having lived forty-nine years and seven months with his virtuous consort, by whom he had thirteen children, five sons and eight daughters" [Magnalia 460]. (Savage doubted the accuracy of this epitaph [Savage 4:243], but modern research has shown the number of children to be correct and the length of the marriage off by one year.)
