Sad Story of Wright Hawkins' Mother's Death
Alice Mitchell Hawkins died when Wright was 9 days old; Albert Hoffmaster, an uncle of Alice’s, adopted Wright, according to Ellen Hawkins Liston of Biggsville, IL
Albert Hoffmaster and his wife Lizzie Eva Williams Hoffmaster took in Wright and brought him up as their own. Lizzie Eva Williams, daughter of Phoebe Brown and William Williams, was the niece of Esther Smith Williams Hawkins; it was Hetty's son James Sharp Hawkins who was Wright's father. It appears the Hoffmasters did not have children and James Sharp Hawkins was not in a position to take care of his son, so he gave him to the Hoffmasters to take care of. Wright Hoffmaster was really Wright Hawkins and his descendants are also Hawkins.
