William I de Tracy (d.circa 1136) was an illegitimate son of King Henry I. The king granted to this son of his the feudal barony of Bradninch, Devon, which had escheated to the crown from William Capra, listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as holding that barony. He left one daughter and sole-heiress Grace de Tracy who married John de Sudeley, son of Harold de Mantes.

It is suggested that his marriage and child (Grace de Tracy) are (possibly relatively recent) inventions. If so, there is probably no reason to believe that he was born as early as the 1090's.

  4. based on birth years of his half-siblings, and the suggestion that he may have been born in the 1090s. According to Cawley, Chronique de Normandie (ca. 1350) calls him Henry's seventh illegitimate son, which suggests he may have been born several years later than this.
