  3.   Note: It seems likely that William is the William Williams "of Boston" who m. 1773 Mrs. Mary Dolbeare, since it comes about the time when he would be expected to remarry following his 3rd wife's death, having young children needing to be cared for. But research into this has stalled without reaching confirmation. William Williams is very poorly covered. The only genealogy that seems to cover him suffers from sparse and spotty coverage that is barely recognizable as this man (Source:Williams, Stephen W. Genealogy and History of the Family of Williams in America : More Particularly of the Descendants of Robert Williams of Roxbury, e.g., only one wife listed on p. 35, named simply as "Sarah", only two children named). This source also suffers from a frustrating organization (e.g., hard to figure out his parents except by knowing, and working backwards). As a consequence of this poor coverage, mistakes appear to be making the rounds on the various Internet sites, such as Find A Grave, showing Sarah May as his first wife (even though the Roxbury VRs clearly say she married him after his first wife Sarah Payson died), and so this page originally, as probably do many Internet sites still, had some of the children being attributed to the wrong "Sarah". Even that data that is presented on this page, which seems both supported by contemporary records and recommended by circumstance, does not seem to be commonplace.
