He sold land to John Rowe in 1651 and another lot to his "son-in-law" Hugh Rowe in 1684 (Essex Deeds 9:286).

William Vinson was of Salem as early as 1635, but removed to this place on first settlement of the town. He is called, in the records, "pot maker." By grant or purchase, he became an owner of several lots of land; on one of which, probably, was the spring that perpetuates his name. He was also the original grantee of Five-pound Island. He was admitted a freeman in 1643; and in 1646, and several times subsequently, was one of the selectmen. He had a wife Sarah, who died Feb. 4, 1660. He next married, June 10, 1661, Rachel Cooke, a widow, who died Feb. 15, 1707: he died Sept. 17, 1690, aged about eighty. His children were ---- Elizabeth born in 1644; Richard; John, 1648; William, 1651; Richard, 1658; Thomas 1662; Abigail 1668; and Sarah and Hannah, born before he came to Gloucester. The four daughters married here, and had children. Of the sons, the first Richard died in childhood, the second, and Thomas and William, died in December, 1675; John was dead in 1683. The name has not continued here beyond the second generation.

  12. Barber and Delorey Source: Lura Woodside Watkins, Early New England Potters and Their Wares. Cambridge, MA, 1950, pp. 16-18. Watkins "speculates" regarding the birth place of William Vinson, noting that he called himself a "pot baker", a Dutch term. A migration from the Low Country to Essex, England, occurred about 1600.
Note: Parish Registers for Broomfield are available through the Family History Center in Salt Lake and should be checked.
  13. When Francis Vincent died in 1640, his title and estate were inherited by his only surviving son, Anthony Vincent.
Since William was still alive at the time, he could not have been the son of Francis Vincent.
