[3] There are apparently few certain facts about William Warlenc, who was deprived of the County to the benefit of Robert (sometimes said to have been c.1055).
    -----
[cos1776 Note: Robert was supposedly made Count of Mortain in the Contentin in 1049 after William Warlenc had been banished by Duke William on suspicion of treason. Robert was the half-brother of William I of England (aka William the Conqueror). Supposedly the suspicion was that William Warlenc was a grandson of Duke Richard I and therefore a potential rival to William the Bastard. [1] ]
