Facts and Events
William served in the Royal Navy 1916-1918. His ship was the Intrepid, one of the ships scuttled in bottling up Zubrigg Harbour in the North Sea. Before the war, he was a shepherd. He came to Colborne Township, Huron County, (about 5 miles from Goderich) CANADA in 1923, to work as a farm hand for Ben COX, across the road from the BAXTER family. Mary BAXTER first saw him when he was fencing. She was going by horse and buggy to bring home a camera to take a picture of her grandmother on her birthday (May 10) in the snow! Mary's horse tried to run away and Bill caught it. References
