In 1850 in the home of Bailis Turner in Union Co., GA was William Turner, age 17; On the 1860 census of Fannin Co., Ga was found a William A. Turner, age 28 [is this the same William?]

On 5 Jun 1860,. William A. Turner purchased from James M. Casada, ¼ A of Lot 288, 8th District, 1st Section of Fannin Co., GA for $5.00 & other valuable considerations “ beginning at SW Corner of Lot where Wm A. Turner lives” (Book D, page 348)

On 28 Dec 1861, William A Turner purchased from John Johnson, ½ Town Lot 41, Morganton, (Book C., page 363)

On 25 Jan 1862, William A. Turner sold to James Jury, Lot 41 Morganton. (Book C, page 364)

On 12 Jan 1863, Bailis E. Turner, Principal, William Davis, Security posted $200 bond as Administrator of the goods, Chattels and Credits fo William A. Turner, deceased, late of Fannin County (Minute Book 1853-1865, Fannin Co. Probate Office, page 290)

Bailes E. Turner granted Letters of Administration of W. A. Turner estate, dated 12 Jan 1863. (Minute Book, page 291)

On 14 Jun 1863 S. E. Dobbs, J. A. Jarvis and W. B. Brown appraised 'hous and lot of W. A. Turner' to be worth $80. (Minute Book, Page 291)

On 6 Oct 1863, Bailis E. Turner as Administrator of estate of William A. Turner caused to be sold on the courthouse steps on the first Tues of Oct, ¼ A., Lot 288, 8th Dist, 1st Section for $125 to John Vane. (Deed Book D 346)

No William A., Sarah A or Martha J. Turner found in the 1870 census of Fannin County. No marriage record has been found in Fannin County for William A. Turner and Sarah??? nor for Sarah A. Turner to anyone after 1863.

  7. The child listed on Bailis' Application for Pension as Dependant Father of Bailis M. Turner was David B (?), born 7 Sep 1834. The only mention of William is on the census and in Bailis' applying for Letters of Administration for William. So this is just a guess as to his birth date. Nothing else has been found and no one seems to have heard of a David before.

    Bailis E. Turner was appointed administrator of the estate of William A. Turner on 12 Jan 1863 by James Kincaid, Ordinary. Pages 290-292 in the Minute Book 1853-1865. Bailes E. Turner, principal and William Davis, Security made bond of $200. before the Ordinary of Fannin Co to Administer the Estate of "William A Turner, deceased, late of Fannin Co" to make an inventory of the estate.
