Ruby Driskell notes show W.Taylor died 9 Oct. 1880 in PA. Biographical Record of Iowa 1896,pg. 447 gives his birth in 1808 and death in PA 1890. Other records incorrectly show that this family moved to Putnam Co., OH. Need better verifications on some details of this family. Wonder if William married again in the 20 yrs. he lived after his wife, Elizabeth's death.

In 1850 Census, it mentions born in NY were people named Geo.Taylor, 30; Betsy Taylor, 19, and William Taylor, 40. Born in PA (same census) were Henry Taylor, 45; and Catherine Taylor, 35. This could be an important clue to the NY Braught records.

1860 Census = No.Middleton Twsp., Cumberland Co, PA Census #140,pg. 32: William Tayler ,51; Eliz, 48; Rebecca, 20; Matthew, 19; Geo., 18; Hiram, 14; Mary, 11; Winifield, 9; William, 8; Emma,2.

Warren Co. History 1987; see F54, F374, F1050, and F1129. Also, Rory Taylor provided considerable new data on Taylor line January 1999, but much of it I did not add it to this database at that time because I was preoccupied with preparing Braught book data. It is therefore useful to see my paper files with his considerable Taylor data (64c2S)or contact him directly. Also see copy in 64C2 for details of Braught data in that report. Rory periodically organizes a Taylor Reunion in Warren County, IA and they used to meet at the community building/church still located in the corner of the Braught property.
Dauphin County History, pg 725 reports that he was educated, of sturdy Scotch-Irish stock, once owned 600 acres in Iowa, the Baskin tract of 153 acres with grist and saw mills, and was a stockholder in the Halifax Bank. There are continual close social connections between Braught and Taylor families from Dauphin Co., PA and Warren Co., IA.
