XVII. Magdalene, only surviving child of William Blair of that ilk, succeeded to the estate of Blair, etc. and intermarried with Mr William Scot advocate, second son of John Scot of Millenie, Esq; who, upon his marriage with the said Magdalene, assumed the surname of Blair, and by her had issue only one son,
William, apparent heir of Blair, of whom afterwards.
Mr William Scot, (now Blair), married 2ndly, Catharine, only daughter of Alexander Tait merchant in Edinburgh, by whom he had five sons and six daughters, who all assumed the name of Blair, viz.
SONS
1. Hamilton Blair, of whom more hereafter.
2. Alexander, surveyor of the customs at Port-Glasgow, who married Elisabeth, only daughter of John Hamilton of Grange, Esq; in the county of Ayr, by whom he has had a son William, and two daughters Catharine and Elisabeth.
3. John, a captain of foot, who died of wounds he received at the battle of Minden 1st August 1759.
4. Thomas, also bred to the army, was a cornet in the Gray dragoons, and died of the wounds he received at the battle of Valdt, anno 1747.
5. William, likewise bred a soldier, a lieutenant of foot, was killed fighting bravely at the head of a detachment which he commanded against the Indians near Oswego in America, anno 1756.

1. Ann, married to David Blair of Adamton, Esq; in the county of ayr, by whom she has a daughter, Caharine, now heiress of Adamton.
2. Magdalene, married to Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, baronet, by whom she has three sons, William, Hamilton, and Dunbar, and three daughters, 1. Catharine, married to John Fordyce of Ayton, Esq; in Berwickshire, receiver-general of the land tax of Scotland. 2. Jane, married to his grace Alexander duke of Gordon. 3. Eglington, unmarried.
3. Janet, married to Alexander Tait, Esq; one of the principal clerks of session, by whom she hath issue three sons, Alexander, William, John.
4. Barbara, married to William Fullerton of that ilk, Esq; in the county of ayr, by whom she hath a son, William Fullerton, now of Fullerton, Esq;
5. Catharine, unmarried.
6. Mary, married to Sir John Sinclair, formerly of Stevenson, now of Murkle, baronet, by whom she hath a son, Robert,, and a daughter Catharine.
