William Savill the sone of William Savill and Sarah his wife was borne the (17) (5) [July] 1650.
[This record is somewhat at odds with the record on p. 637 recording the death of his wife Hanna (14) (4) [June] 1650, since as written, she could not be the mother of William, but there is not enough time to remarry and have a child. Since Sarah's next child isn't until daughter Sarah b. 1654, it seems likely that the mother of William was Hannah. Perhaps the date given for William was his baptism, and his birth actually occurred on, or before, the death date of his mother.]

"Children of William & Sarah born at Braintree … William, Jul. 17, 1652 (Boston Returns) (not 1650 as in Braintree published V.R.)" NOTE: Braintree was in Suffolk County from 1643 until 1793 when it was set of, with a number of other towns, to form the present Norfolk County. The "Boston Returns" referred to are the required returns from the Town Clerk to the County Court. Assuming the return to the County was correct and the town record, for whatever reason, was in error, the disconnect regarding William's date of birth and the identity of his mother is explained.
