William Robinson was baptised on 8th March 1860 at Sidlesham in Sussex, son of Fanny Robinson, formerly Edwards, and her husband James Robinson, an agricultural labourer. He appears in the 1861 census living with his parents and older brother at the Mill village in Sidlesham. The family on that occasion were listed under the name Allen, which was William's father's stepfather's surname, which he sometimes used.

Sadly William died when he was only two years old, being buried at Sidlesham on 14th August 1862.
