13.D William F.(3) RITTGERS (John, Jr.2, John1) was born 8 Aug 1849 in Marion Twp., Hockin g Co., Oh., the son of John Augustin RITTGERS, Jr. and Lydia_____. There on the 1850 census , 10/12ths of a year old, with parents.[p 841 fam #118/120], and on the 1860 census, age 12 , with father and step-mother.[p 150 fam #936/924] He married Lydia WILLIAMS15 Apr 1869 in Ho cking County, Oh.[HVRM, Book "C", p. 519] She was born about 1844 in Oh. We find on the 187 0 census that William is 20 and a farm hand in Marion Twp., P.O. Haydonville, Hocking Co., Oh . Wife Lydia is 26.[p 511 fam #273/276] On the 1880 census, though, William is declared to b e 38! (We see that error often) At this time he is a "steam engineer" in Monday Creek Twp., P erry Co., Oh. Lydia is 33, and caring for their three children.[ED 212, p 210D, fam #312/312 ] On the 1900 census we find William, 50, a "clerk", in Falls Twp., Hocking Co., Oh. Wife, L iddie, 55, declares they have been married 31 years and she bore 3 children, all alive at thi s time.[ED 28, fam #351/371] Besides 2 adult children in the home, they also have 2 boarders , Harley Thomas, 23, a conductor; and William Fox, 22, a laborer on a brick yard.[ED 28, p 66 B, fam #351/371] William died between 1900 and 1910, as we find on the 1910 census Lydia is l iving with daughter Rose and her husband George Krickbaum in Logan, Hocking Co Oh. Here sh e is 66, has born 3 children, all living at this time.[ED 83, p 9A, fam #201/210] On 1920 ce nsus, Lydia continues in home of daughter, Rose, in Logan, Hocking Co., Oh. She is 75.[ED 40 , p. 71, fam #304/330]
