Acquisition of Land from Orange County, Virginia Records:
- Pages 308-10. 22 Sept. 1740. Erasmus Taylor of Orange County to William Rhodes of same. Lease for 28 years from 25 December last. 100 acres at the Little Mountains... line [of] Hezekiah Rhodes... George Anderson's line... Crosswait's in a valley... Annual rent, 500 pounds of tobacco, plus 50 pounds for each tithable over himself, two others and his own children working on the land. Rhodes shall plant 100 apple trees in an orchard 25 foot asunder. (signed) Erasmus Taylor. Wit: Geo. Taylor, Hezekiah Rhods. 27 Nov. 1740. Acknowledged by Erasmus Taylor Gent. - To my beloved wife the old mair to dispose of as she thinks proper.

- To my son Christopher one gray horse colt.
- To my said wife all my movable goods and estate during her widowhood and then to be equally divided between my wife and my son William and John and Christopher, Hezekiah and Benjamin.
