New Castle News, New Castle, Lawrence Co, PA, 9 Aug 1921, p3 Informal Party Honors Birthday To celebrate the 83rd birthday of Mrs. EJ Pattison, friends and neighbors to the number of 83 gathered at her home on the Youngstown Road last evening in a surprise fashion. The hours were spent informally and during the evening the honored guest was presented with a black silk dress. (there is an ad on same page for silk dresses at $10 each). The presentation speech was made by James Jamison. the oldest person present was William Pattison aged 87Y and the youngest was Hathaway Pattison aged 3 months. Later in the evening delicious refreshments were served and a color scheme of pink and white was carried out in the decorations and the menu. Among the out of town guests were Misses Winters, Mrs. Feree and daughter of Jeanette, PA, Miss Mary Love of Mercer, Mrs. Russell Pattison and son Billy of Salem, Ohio, and Mr and Mrs. John Krieger and son John of Pittsburgh. Personal Notes Misses Winters and Mrs. Feree and daughter of Jeanette, PA are guests of Mrs. Ed Winters of the Youngstown Road. M/M John Kriger and son John of Pittsburgh are the guests of M/M James Hawkins of the Youngstown Road. Mrs. Russell Pattison and son Billy of Salem, OH are house guests of M/M William Patison of the Youngstown Road. Pattison, aged 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Pattison, 512 John St, is believed to be the first invasion casualty from Niles. A ranger, he was wounded while serving with the infantry in France, his parents have been notified. In a subsequent letter to his parents this week said, “I got more of them than I have holes in me.” A graduate of McKinley High School, he is a former football star. He enlisted in June 1942. A brother, Sgt. William Pattison, is stationed in Ireland. |
