  • Roane County Court Minutes Book 1816-1818 page 212 = Be it remembered that at a Court held by the Justices of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for the County of Roane at the Courthouse in Kingston on the 3rd Monday of October 1817 George Morris of lawful age appeared in Open Court and being duly sworn deposeth and saith that Nathan T. Morris who inlisted in the 7 Regiment of United States Infantry was the legitamate son of Isaac Morris that the said Nathan was about sixteen or 17 years of age at the time of his inlistment and that he died on the 3rd day of Nov. 1813 having neither wife nor child and that Isaac Morris his father is of Lawful age. William McClellan of lawful age who appeared in Court & being duly sworn saith that he was a Captain in the 7th Regiment of the United States Infantry and the the inlisted Nathan T. Morris in the year 1813 to serve for and during the war with the consent of Isaac Morris his father. And that the said Nathan T. Morris died at Fort Hampton in the service of the United States in the fall of the year 1813.
