William McCandless's estate was inventoried 21 Dec 1799, Green Co, KY with an estimated value of £390.19.8. It included typical farm livestock, farm equipment, wearing apparel, and furniture; plus three Negroes, Jack, Dilcey, and Nancy. Recorded Green Co, KY, Will Book 1, pp. 49-50.
Identity of William's wife
There is considerable speculation regarding the identity of the wife of William McCandless. Some believe it was Elizabeth Botkin, whose father lived closeby the McCandless family in the Borden Tract, while others have her as Elizabeth Lattimore, daughter of John Lattimore and Ann Davis. More research necessary.
