At Westerly, R. I., May 15, 1893, of atheroma, William Edgar Maxson, in the 53d year of his age.
Mr. Maxson was a son of Deacon William Maxson and the late Sarah Rogers Maxson, and was born at DeRuyter, N. Y., Oct. 12, 1840. In his childhood his parents moved to Waterford, Conn., and thence to Westerly. Early in life he gave his heart to Christ, and in 1855 he united with the Pawcatuck Seventh-day Baptist Church, of which he alway remained a member. In the autumn of 1860 he entered Alfred University, but in the spring of the following year he enlisted in Co. K, 23d N. Y. Volunteers, and for two years faithfully served his country. Since the war he was engaged is business, for the most part in Westerly. In 1875 he married Miss Margaret A. Niblock, of Westerly, who bore him four children, three of whom are still living. His wife, a brother, and his father are left to mourn his loss. He was upright, manly, and generous, domestic in his tastes, devoted to his family, and tender-hearted. These qualities endeard him to many friends. Funeral services were held from his late residence in Westerly, May 18, 1893, conducted by his pastor, assisted by the Rev. S. H. Woodrow. Interment in River Bend Cemetery, Westerly, R. I.
