                                            WILLIAM L. KNOWLTON

    William L. Knowlton, 71, 39 Dodds road, died Saturday at his home. Mr. Knowlton worked for Antwerp Roofing, was a dairy farmer on Delphi Hill Road in Antwerp from 1954 to 1967 and then moved to Gouverneur. He built the Country Lane Mobile Home Parkand the Jolly K Mobile Home Park, retiring in 1996. After his retirement, he spent winters in Lakeland, Florida. Born July 23, 1929, in Gouverneur, son of Lyle B. and Nellie Bailey Knowlton, he attended school at Brasie Corners and Brier Hill and George Hall Trade School in Ogdensburg. He married Helen M. Andrews on April 29, 1950, at the Gouverneur First Methodist Church parsonage with the Rev. Harold A. Thomas officiating.He was a member of Dads of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Knowlton enjoyed collecting and rebuilding antique cars. He had rebuilt four Model A cars and a Model T and participated in many antique car shows, winning several trophies. He also enjoyed traveling, square dancing, listening to country music and spending time with his family. Surviving besides his wife are four sons and their wives, Lyle W. and Susan, Northfield,N.H., Michael P. and Kathy, Gouvernuer, Brue W. and Kerry, Lycoming, and Randy L. and Alicia, Gouverneur; a daughter and her husband, Christine A. and Joseph Grant, Watertown; a brother Keith Knowlton, Dekalb Junction; two sisters, June Hughto, Brasie Corners, and Delores LaRock, Gouverneur, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 am Monday at French Funeral Home with the Reverand Alan D. Kinney officiating. Burial will be in Hailesboro Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, P.O.
